Hospitality Association of Zimbabwe Congress Resolution

 

1. Resolutions Associated with Hosting of UNWTO

  1. To lobby for the extension of the period of SI 46 & 60 for the duty free dispensation on capital goods for the tourism & hospitality industry to beyond 2013, in order to impact positive hosting of the general assembly.
  2. To lobby for the establishment of a tourism and hospitality revolving  fund targeting infrastructural development by Quarter 1 2012.
  3. To consider the hosting dates for the general assembly for the period of May or June 2013 , given favorable weather & also the period being the low season for both Zimbabwe and Zambia. This compares better to the tradition October period which has higher temperatures and happens to be the traditional high tourism season for the Victoria Falls.
  4. To develop a national standards and service delivery road map for the hospitality industry through a national skills development program targeting identified positions across the  hospitality and tourism sector  by December 2012.
  5. To outline an implementation plan  for the successful hosting of the UNWTO general assembly in conjunction with the ministry on key deliverables ;
  • Immigration
  • Water reticulation
  • Power generation
  • Transportation (air & ground)- Open Skies Policy.

 

2.    Congress General Resolutions

 

  1. To define the hospitality industry conclusively to include all institutions associated with delivering the tourism product (tangible and intangible.)
  2. Strengthen the organizational capacity of HAZ, utilizing the expanded data base and membership, targeting membership growth to above 600 from the current 85 by December 2013.
  3. To benchmark sector service delivery standards with the region through a national skills and professional  development program targeting identified positions by December 2012.
